How would an extra $100 a day change your life? If you are a multi-millionaire, maybe not so much (although even then $36,500 is nothing to sneeze at!)
Did you read that right? $36,500? Yep – at $100/day that is a little over $36k a year. Not too bad, even if all it does is pay the electricity bill for your mansion.
But more likely, especially since you found this website, $36,500 (or 100 dollars a day) could be life changing.
I’ve been thinking about this recently because I’m 54 years old and want to retire by the time I am 60. I don’t intend to take out social security until I am 70, so I have been doing a lot of reading, listening and thinking lately on what the early years of my retirement might look like. My wife and I already have a decent nest egg, and we continue to fund it.
But I’ve been a lifelong saver and wealth accumulator, and to think about starting to take withdrawls out of those savings, well I am not quite ready for that. So I’ve been thinking about how I could retire yet still bring in a helpful amount of money that would allow me to minimize the amount of money I need to pull from our retirement savings.
During the last 20 years I have found a number of ways to bring in extra income. I’ve sold books and other household items on Amazon, ebay and Craigslist. I’ve been paid for various photography services. I had a number of websites were I generated Adsense and other ad revenue. I was, and I guess still am, an Amazon affiliate. I’ve provided online testing services, and I’m sure a few more I am forgetting about.
As I think now about what might be best for me as I retire it is clear that there is no single correct answer – any and all might have a place. Some require my specific time and expertise, meaning if I die that income would dry up for my wife immediately, and others could carry on and continue to pay her such as dividends or interest on investments.
It has been a number of years now since I have written on a blog and I miss it – writing is cathartic and helps to spur ideas. My goal is to develop this website for myself as a learning experience, and if that is all that happens, well that is just fine. But maybe I could find an interested audience as well, that would be fun!
So, I hope you find this sometime and enjoy the wealth of information that will be shared on here by the time you do.
I look forward to it.
